A 15-year-old Mickleham boy, identified in multiple media reports as Darweish Mohamed, has died after suffering suspected stab wounds outside Craigieburn Community Hospital in Melbourne’s north. Victoria Police have launched a homicide investigation into the fatal incident.
Emergency services were called to the hospital on Lygon Drive at approximately 7:50 p.m. on Wednesday after the teenager was discovered critically injured. A hospital staff member immediately began CPR before paramedics arrived, but the boy was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not yet confirmed whether the stabbing occurred at the hospital or if the victim was transported there after being attacked elsewhere.
Authorities arrested a 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy in Pascoe Vale early Thursday morning. Detectives from the Homicide Squad are interviewing both individuals as investigations continue. At this stage, police have not publicly disclosed a motive for the attack, and inquiries remain ongoing.
The victim, who lived in Mickleham and attended Mount Ridley P–12 College according to media reports, has been remembered by friends and members of the local community. Floral tributes and messages have been left near the hospital in memory of the teenager, with many expressing shock and sadness over the tragedy.
Northern Health confirmed that a staff member found the injured teenager outside the medical facility and attempted to assist him before emergency responders arrived. The health service said it is supporting staff affected by the incident while cooperating fully with the police investigation.
Victoria Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or has CCTV, dashcam, or mobile phone footage from the area around the time of the attack to come forward. Investigators believe public assistance may help establish the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death.
